Metra Hub, represented by Idiris Sid Ali Mohamed, proudly participated in a five-day regional capacity development training held in Mombasa, Kenya. The event brought together representatives from across Eastern Africa, including Burundi, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Somalia, South Sudan, and Tanzania.
The training focused on one of the most pressing challenges facing the region today: climate-induced migration and the complex relationship between climate change, conflict, and human mobility.
🌱 Climate Change as a Threat Multiplier
Throughout the sessions, participants explored how climate change is increasingly acting as a threat multiplier—exacerbating existing vulnerabilities such as resource scarcity, economic instability, and displacement.
Rising temperatures, prolonged droughts, and unpredictable weather patterns are placing additional pressure on already fragile communities, forcing many to migrate in search of safer and more sustainable livelihoods.
🤝 Strengthening Regional Cooperation
A key outcome of the discussions was the recognition that regional collaboration is essential. Countries across Eastern Africa share similar climate challenges, making it crucial to work together in developing unified responses.
